Samsung LCD 52"

I knew that not long after reeling off LG's massive line of new HDTVs then along would come someone else with lots of TVs to brag about. Here we go, then, with the latest high definition TVs from the South Korean technology giant. First on the list is the new 8000, 7000, and 6000 Series of LED HDTVs which boast better environmental credentials and over 40% less energy usage to LCD TVs of a similar size. Fortunately, Dan's already done a sterling job reviewing these tellies so I'll move on to Samsung's other new displays.

Samsung has shown off two new series of plasma TVs -- the Series 8 and Series 6 -- which it claims are the world's thinnest 1080p-resolution plasma sets with built-in digital TV tuners, at just over an inch thick. The Series 8 sets features a chrome-like translucent surface encasing the bezel that magnifies the light like a prism and causes it to reflect varying colours. The Series 6 features a semi-transparent rose black hued frame and curved edges, plus a reinforced glass stand.

Features include Ultra Filter Bright Plus technology which reduces the luminance in black levels by 50 percent over previous models, the Yahoo! TV Widgets that several telly manufacturers have introduced and is causing quite a buzz, support for multimedia on USB devices, plus some fairly decent eco-credentials that should help to turn the bad image plasma sets still have for energy efficiency.

Finally, Samsung's full HD LCD Series 7 and Series 6 TVs offer a range of features including 200Hz Motion Plus frame interpolation technology for smoother motion, Ultra Clear panel that reflects room light to produce deeper, darker black tones and bolder colours, Yahoo!'s TV Widgets, plus better energy efficiency. The Series 7 TVs come in 40, 46, and 52-inch screen sizes, while the Series 6 LCD TVs range from 19 inches, through 22, 32, 37, 40, 46, and 55-inch screens.
