This year Samsung presents its first full HD plasma TVs in a 50" (PS-50P96FD) as well as a remarkable 60" model (PS-63P76FD) providing a diagonal screen size of exactly 160 cm. The newly developed panels boast a contrast ratio of 15,000:1 and light density of 1,000 cd/m2 and offer a viewing angle of at least 175°.Samsung employs 18-bit video processing in its new plasma series, which can generate and display 18 quadrillion colors (262,144 shades of gray).
The "dual zone gamma adjustment algorithm" is intended to ensure grayscale reproduction with the same color temperature in all brightness settings, thus obviating solarization effects. while the PS-63P76FD lists for a less attractive €9,999.00. The street prices look a bit friendlier: despite its current market introduction, the PS-50P96FD can already be had for about €2,700.00, and-get this-the PS-63P76FD can already be found at €5,300.00. Never before has there been such a giant available in Germany at this price - especially not in full HD!
